Draft reports on EU chemicals legislation
On 25th November, ENVI members considered the draft reports on the ‘one substance - one assessment’ legislative package.
On 7 December 2023, the Commission adopted the 'one substance - one assessment' legislative package to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, coherence, and transparency of safety assessments of chemicals across different pieces of EU legislation and the EU agencies involved in the processes. This package strengthened the role of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), which will be in charge of a central IT infrastructure consolidating the data on chemicals available in the EU.
On 25th November, the rapporteur presented to ENVI members draft reports on the 'one substance - one assessment' legislative package. These reports proposed the inclusion of data on substances in articles and aimed to clarify and strengthen rules on data handling, confidentiality, and stakeholder involvement.
