Highlights
On 4th and 5th December 2024, the JURI committee considered the draft opinion on the 2023 discharge: General budget of the EU (Court of Justice of the European Union) and voted on the decision to enter into interinstitutional negotiations regarding the dossier Compulsory licensing for crisis management and amending Regulation (EC) 816/2006. Members furthermore held an exchange of views on the Proposal for the AI Liability Directive (2022/0303(COD)).
On 18 November 2024, the JURI committee voted on the recast opinion concerning the proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on combating the sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children and child sexual abuse material and replacing Council Framework Decision 2004/68/JHA (COM(2024)0060, 2024/0035(COD)).
The European Parliament Coordinator on children’s rights
Guided by the "best interest of the child" principle, the Coordinator works to ensure the promotion and protection of children's rights in all EU policies and legislation. She seeks to assist citizens experiencing parental child abduction and other cross-border family disputes. She advocates closer collaboration with the judicial and administrative bodies and seeks to promote mediation in cross-border family matters.
