24 March is World Tuberculosis Day
Each year we commemorate World TB Day to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of tuberculosis (TB) and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic. The date marks the day in 1882 when Dr Robert Koch announced that he had discovered the bacterium that causes TB, which opened the way towards diagnosing and curing this disease. This year's theme, Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver, is a bold call for hope, urgency, and accountability.

Public consultations of the Committee on Public Health on Rare diseases and Women’s health
On 3 March, Members of the SANT Committee held an exchange of views with the representatives of two working groups who focused on work of the Strategic Report.
On 3 March, Americo B. Zampetti, Minister Counsellor for Global Health and SPS issues at the Delegation of the European Union to the United Nations, presented to SANT Members the progress of the negotiations on the Pandemic Accord as well as the proposal for a Council Decision authorising Member States to accept the amendments to the International Health Regulations.
Exchange of views with Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization has been postponed to the later date.
In the morning of 20 February, Members of the SANT Committee held an exchange of views with Izabela Leszczyna, Minister of Health, on the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the field of public health.
