Question for written answer E-002811/2024
to the Commission
Rule 144
Michał Wawrykiewicz (PPE)
The rule of law is a cornerstone of the EU, ensuring the smooth functioning of democratic institutions and the protection of citizens’ rights. However, increasing political polarisation, misinformation and a low level of awareness of the rule of law among citizens point to the need to intensify educational activities at EU level. Promoting awareness of the rule of law is crucial to strengthening European values and increasing trust in EU institutions.
In this connection:
- 1.Does the Commission plan to launch educational programmes for young people to raise awareness of the rule of law, democracy and the protection of human rights?
- 2.Does the Commission cooperate with NGOs and educational institutions to promote the rule of law among citizens, and if so, how?
- 3.What measures is the Commission taking to support public awareness campaigns and educational initiatives that increase citizens’ knowledge of the importance of the rule of law in their daily lives?
