The future development of the EU depends on the support of its citizens, therefore the creation of a truly European demos is of vital importance. Education and culture are the main vehicles for achieving this goal.

The EU and its institutions support educational initiatives and programmes that relay the principles of peace, freedom and solidarity, upon which it was founded and built, to society as a whole, as well as those that educate society about European history, European art, the different political, social and economic aspects of different countries, etc.

With that in mind:

• 1.Which Commission departments are responsible for, or involved in, awarding grants to cultural and educational institutions with the above objectives?
• 2.More specifically, which grant programmes provide their funding?
