Crowdfunding in the EU
12.2.2021
Question for written answer E-000887/2021
to the Commission
Rule 138
Roberta Metsola (PPE)
There is a growing demand in crowdfunding as a source of seed capital for innovative start-ups, with one crowdfunding platform alone having reportedly raised in excess of EUR 4.5 billion by November 2020. However, the two most in-demand crowdfunding platforms – Indiegogo[1] and Kickstarter[2] – are only available in 16 of the 27 EU countries.
Does the Commission plan to enforce single market rules on digital services such as crowdfunding in order to make them accessible throughout the EU-27? When is this expected to be in place?
