to the Commission
Rule 130
Neoklis Sylikiotis (GUE/NGL)
The extreme weather in Cyprus over the last few months has created serious problems on the island. Farming in Cyprus has been irreparably damaged. Rural roads are blocked, irrigation systems have collapsed and producers have no access to their crops which have been lost. Immediate measures are needed to compensate them for these losses.
Will the Commission say:
- 1.What steps will it take to support producers in Cyprus whose crops have been destroyed due to the extreme weather conditions?
- 2.Will it set up a regional permanent aid mechanism for Member States, which will be based in Cyprus, so that the consequences of natural disasters can be addressed more rapidly?
