I voted in favor of the Recommendation to the Council on the EU’s priorities for the 69th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women. This Recommendation is deeply rooted in the EU’s commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s rights, both within its borders and globally, as outlined in the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action adopted in 1995. The Beijing Declaration remains a cornerstone in the fight for equality, providing a comprehensive framework for addressing structural inequalities and advancing the rights of women and girls worldwide. By reaffirming this commitment, we are continuing the fight for gender equality and women's rights, and ensuring that these principles are integrated into all aspects of the EU’s external policies, including foreign, security, and development actions.
