. – Je me suis refusé à prendre part au vote sur le «renforcement de l’intégrité» des institutions européennes pour les raisons suivantes :
– 1) j’ai trop régulièrement critiqué les autorités de mon pays quand elles réagissaient à un fait divers par l’adoption de nouvelles lois pour le faire à mon tour. Une affaire de corruption a porté atteinte à l’image de notre Parlement. La justice est en marche. Elle agit efficacement et avec célérité. Nos institutions démocratiques fonctionnent. Il n’y a aucune raison de nous ruer sur d’illusoires mesures;
– 2) les mesures envisagées ont, en l’occurrence, le tort de laisser penser que tous les députés seraient des coupables en puissance et de ne proposer que des dispositions inefficaces ou même dangereuses. En quoi le fait de recevoir un ambassadeur ou un lobbyiste devrait-il susciter le soupçon ? N’est-ce pas là l’un des devoirs d’un élu avant de se prononcer sur une législation? En quoi l’obligation de déclarer ces rendez-vous empêcherait-elle une tentative de corruption? Pourquoi un député devrait-il s’abstenir de poursuivre une activité professionnelle déclarée? Pourquoi les affaires étrangères devraient-elles être considérées comme un domaine plus sensible que l’industrie ou les finances?

Individual motions for resolutions

In accordance with Rule 143 of Parliament's Rules of Procedure, any individual Member may table a motion for resolution on a matter falling within the spheres of activity of the EU. These motions for resolution express the position of the individual Members who tabled them. Admissible motions are referred to the committee responsible, which shall decide whether to follow up the motion for resolution and, if so, which procedure is to be followed.
