In February 2015, the European Parliament established a special committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect (TAXE 1) and it has adopted a resolution on 25 November 2015 putting forward many recommendations to tackle tax avoidance by multinational companies in the EU.

Following the "Luxleaks" press revelations and the setting up of the Special EP Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect (TAXE), the TAXE Committee organised an exchange of views with EU national Parliaments on aggressive tax planning and democratic control.
