During the EMPL Committee meeting on 18 March 2025, rapporteur Alicia Homs Ginel (S&D, ES), will present her draft report on the Commission proposal for the Traineeships Directive. Recent data shows that up to 78% of 18 to 35-year-olds in the EU undertake a traineeship - a figure projected to rise 16% by 2030. However, many trainees face less favourable conditions than regular employees.

The European Parliamentary Week (EPW) 2025, co-organised by the European Parliament, the Polish Seijm and the Polish Senate, took place on 17 and 18 February 2025 at the European Parliament in Brussels. The event brought together parliamentarians from the EU, candidate and observer countries to discuss economic, budgetary and social matters. As part of the event, the EMPL committee organised two interparliamentary committee meetings in the afternoon of the 17 February (16.20-19.20 CET).
