Tips and tricks to help you find cheap flights from Birmingham to Dublin
Useful information about the flight from Birmingham to Dublin
The vibrant Irish capital Dublin
Dublin is an energetic city with a long list of entertaining diversions ideal for all kinds of visitors. The interesting history and beautiful surroundings offer an appealing experience.
Best time for a Dublin trip
Any part of the year is a great time to travel to Dublin, with temperatures rarely going below zero degrees centigrade in the winter or in excess of 30 degrees centigrade in the height of summer. St. Patrick's day on the 17th March is a major event, with the patron saint of the Irish bringing in thousands of visitors from all over the world. September is another extremely popular time to visit the city, with the Dublin Theatre Festival and Dublin Fringe Festival both appealing to lovers of the stage.
Important Dublin tips
Visitors from the EU have no need for any particular vaccinations or visa issues. The time zone is the same as the UK and the form of currency is the Euro. Dublin is certainly less expensive than London, but it is still considered to be relatively expensive in European terms. National museums are free, however. Expect to pay around € 10 for a cheap meal. Upon arrival in the city, head to the main tourist office in St. Andrew's Church. Here you will be able to pick up maps and information related to local events, exhibitions and venues.
Arrival at Dublin airport, local accommodation and Dublin transport
Visitors to Dublin can use the express Aircoach service to connect from the airport to the centre. It leaves every 15 minutes and costs around € 9 (single) or € 15 return. The Airlink 747 bus goes from the airport to Dublin Connolly Railway Station and Heuston Railway Station. The cost is between € 6 and €10 and it is slightly faster than the Aircoach. The local buses 16, 41 and 102 serve central Dublin. Although much of the city centre can be explored by foot, the Leap card is a great option for visitors. The card is reusable for use on Dublin buses and local city trains: around € 10 will save approx. 10-18 % on fares. Taxi fares are slightly more expensive than in London. Short city centre fares cost around € 6 and € 10. Accommodation in Dublin can be comfortably arranged. A bed in a shared room costs from around €12, while a nights bed and breakfast accommodation is usually priced at around € 45 per person. 3 star hotels on average cost around € 80 per person per night.
