Lovely Faro has something for everyone
The beautiful capital of the Algarve in the south of Portugal is the perfect holiday destination all year round. Historically rich, Faro is a cosmopolitan city with picturesque architecture and a teaming nightlife. It boasts lots of shops, restaurants, bars and clubs, magnificent monuments, sandy beaches and the gorgeous Ria Formosa and its desert islands.
When is the best time to visit Faro?
Most tourists travel to Faro from April to October to enjoy the sun and relax at the beach. Nevertheless, the Algarve has some of the best golf courses in the world, making it a favourite all year long. Winters are mild and pleasant, while Summers can be quite hot with temperatures between 27º and 35º C. Beach lovers are advised to book flights and accommodation in advance, if they wish to enjoy Europe's tropical paradise during the peak season. In mid July Faro hosts the International Motorcycle Rally which attracts bikers from all over the world and in the beginning of September there's a huge two-week festival to celebrate the city's day.
Did you know you can save a fortune eating in Faro?
Prices in Portugal are much lower than in the United Kingdom, thus making it a lot cheaper to eat out. Plus, no visitor should miss out on the opportunity of sampling delicious Portuguese food whilst in Faro. Visitors who choose to rent a holiday apartment and wish to cook their own meals will be surprised at how cheap groceries can be. Apart from supermarkets, there are several markets where tourists can purchase everything they need for a bargain and enjoy the vibrant colours, the inebriating scents and a taste of the Portuguese culture.
