Tips and tricks to help you find cheap flights from Bristol to Majorca
Useful information about the flight from Bristol to Majorca
A Fine European city near some of Spain's best beaches
Palma de Mallorca represents that rare thing - a city with museums, bars, restaurants and cultural venues that is a few minutes from secluded beaches and long sandy strands.
When to travel to Palma de Mallorca
Mallorca is a year-round destination. If you are seeking sun and swimming, head over from May until September, but beware that high summer can be extremely hot. Winters are mild, but snow can be experienced in January. Time your visit to coincide with the spectacular Nit de Foc (Night of Fire) on 23rd and 24th June or the Semana Santa celebrations of Easter week. In January, the Festa de Sant Sebastiá sees the city celebrate its patron saint with music and festivities.
What to remember before visiting Palma de Mallorca
There are no visa requirements for British visitors, and you won't be advised to book any injections, so travelling to Palma de Mallorca should be relatively stress free. Do remember that the island is GMT +1 though. The two major languages on the island are Castillian Spanish and Catalan, but expect to meet plenty of English speakers. Living costs are not as high as London, so you will feel like you are saving money when sampling the island's tapas.
Local travel and accommodation information to note
Palma's airport is located 9 kilometres from the city centre and taxis are the quickest option to whisk you into town. Expect to pay about EUR30 for the journey, or take Bus 1 which leaves every 15 minutes and will cost around EUR3. You can also pre-book car hire from outlets at the airport for added convenience. When you travel around town, there is a good bus and metro system which is much more affordable than taxis. However, given the compact nature of the city, exploring Palma de Mallorca is best done on foot. If you want to explore the rest of the island, bike or car hire are good options, as are buses and trains from Plaza de Espana.
Within the city area, expect accommodation to cost about EUR50 per night for hotel rooms. Hostels and B&Bs are cheaper, at approximately EUR20 per person per night. Be aware that prices will generally rise during the peak holiday season between July and September.
