When is the ideal time to travel to Mallorca?
Mallorca is a year-round destination with hot summers and is particularly popular with beach holidaymakers. The bathing season begins as early as May. In the winter months of January and December, however, it is cold and there can be snowfall. On the night of the fire, the "Nit de Foc" on 23rd and 24th June, the beginning of summer is celebrated all night long with fireworks and live music. The Easter festival Semana Santa takes place in March or April and is celebrated with impressive processions. On 19th and 20th January, the city's patron saint is celebrated with the eclectic music festival Festa de Sant Sebastià.

Mallorca airport onward transport tips
The airport is 9 kilometres from the city centre. A taxi costs about 30 euros for the journey into the capital. Bus line 1 serves the centre every 15 minutes for a fare of about 3 euros. Accommodation options in Palma and the island are varied. From luxury hotels and comfortable villas to cheaper hotels, everything is available with average prices starting at about 50 euros per person per night. For hostels and bed and breakfasts, average prices can be expected from 20 euros per person per night. Prices are naturally higher during the high season from July to September. The city boasts a dense bus and metro networkand these are cheaper than taxis. However, as the city itself is relatively small and most things can also be reached on foot. To get around the island, visitors can make use of the regular bus and rail services. Bicycles and cars can also be rented relatively cheaply.
