Batteries Plus Bulbs
Specialty retailer Batteries Plus Bulbs has grown to 740 locations, partly due to an aggressive franchising strategy. Eight years ago, the company built a new cybersecurity infrastructure that featured a legacy firewall managed by a managed security services provider (MSSP)—and other, non-integrated tools managed in-house. This resulted in limited visibility into the company’s overall security posture.
Batteries Plus Bulbs replaced that legacy arrangement with a comprehensive contract with Fortinet Partner Leeward Business Advisors using Fortinet technology. Leeward now manages many network and security operations functions for the company, leveraging FortiGate next-generation firewalls (NGFWs) seamlessly integrated with Fortinet SD-WAN, wireless access point, and security management and analysis solutions along with a variety of security services. The company now has an efficient, scalable security architecture with single-pane-of-glass visibility—and enhanced protection against cybersecurity risks—at the same cost to franchisees as the old solution.
