This Privacy Policy governs the manner in which Global Islamic Bank (referred to as “GIB” or “we” or “the bank”) collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users (referred to as “you” or “users”) of the website https://ibs.globalislamibankbd.com and related mobile applications (referred to as “GIB GOFAST”).

Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. We follow systematic and stringent procedures to protect the security of the information/data shared with us and stored on our Website/App. The information you share on our Website/App is stored on secure servers with encryption and accessed only for official purposes. Any employee violating our privacy and/or security policies regarding customer data is subject to disciplinary action, including possible termination and legal prosecution.
2. Registration
Upon signing up on our Website/App, you are required to provide certain basic mandatory information including your name, date of birth, National Identification Number (NID), mobile number, photo, selfie and other details. We never request more information than is reasonably necessary to provide requested services. Once the registration process is completed, the provided username and password can be used to access your account. We may require your phone book access for Mobile Topup/Bill Payment and mobile financial service (MFS) (bkash/Nagad) fund transfer if you avail the service.
3. Information Collection and Usage
3.1 Personal Information
Personal Information includes all information that can be linked to a specific individual, such as name, address, email address, NID, mobile number, bank or payment card details, transaction history, and more.
3.2 Information Regarding Your Location
We may collect information from your device’s phone book, camera, and photo library for specific services, service improvement and customization purposes. Location is accessed to guide you to GIB ATM and Bank’s branch location, Camera is used for self-served customer on-boarding, File access is needed for uploading of nominee information of the customer’s bank account.
3.3 Contact List
When you use the GIB app, we may collect personal information such as name and phone number for Mobile Top-up services. This information is used solely for providing services and improving user experience. In upcoming release it will be used for mobile financial service account number tagging such as bKash, Nagad. We do not share or hold the information for any 3rd party use.
3.4 Capture/Upload Image Information for eKYC
We collect image information for electronic Know Your Customer (eKYC) verification, including government-issued identity documents and selfies. This information is used solely for identity verification purposes and liveliness checking as the user can open his/her banking account using the app. Thus uploading photos, nid information of nominee is also required.
4 Financial Data Protection:
4.1. Financial Information Security
Emphasize the security measures in place to protect users’ financial information, such as account balances, transaction history, and payment card details. Mention compliance with industry standards like PCI-DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and following ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management System Standards.
4.2. Transaction Security
Detail the encryption and authentication protocols used to secure transactions conducted through the app, ensuring confidentiality and integrity.
4.3. Authentication and Access Controls
Explain the methods employed to authenticate users and restrict access to sensitive features or information within the app, such as multi-factor authentication and role-based access controls.
4.4. Fraud Prevention Measures
Describe the measures taken to detect and prevent fraudulent activities, including monitoring for suspicious transactions and implementing fraud detection algorithms. The Call Center of Bank is available 24×7.
4.5. Data Retention and Deletion
Specify the duration for which personal and transactional data is retained, as well as procedures for securely deleting data upon request or when no longer needed for legal or operational purposes.
4.6. Third-Party Service Providers
Disclose the involvement of third-party service providers in handling user data, including their roles and responsibilities, as well as assurances of data protection agreements and compliance.
4.7. Compliance with Regulatory Requirements
Ensure transparency regarding compliance with applicable financial regulations of Bangladesh Bank and other relevant legal requirements governing the handling of user data as for applicable laws in Bangladesh.
4.8. Data Breach Notification
Outline procedures for promptly notifying users in the event of a data breach that may compromise their personal information, along with steps taken to mitigate risks and address the breach.
4.9. User Education and Awareness
Provide notification through SMS and Email to help users understand privacy and security best practices when using the banking app, such as avoiding phishing scams and protecting login credentials.
5. Security
We implement strict security measures to protect the information provided by you. We use industry-standard security technologies and procedures to safeguard your personal information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. As registered bank in Bangladesh, we do not share this information to any party.
6. Consent
By using GIB GOFAST and/or providing your information, you consent to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
7. Enforcement
We may use the information collected to investigate, enforce, and apply our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
