We are just days out from the 2025 Golden Globes and several categories are still too close to call. Perhaps the most wide-open race is Best Film Drama Actress
With many of the top Oscar contenders like Mikey Madison (Anora), Cynithia Erivo (Wicked), Demi Moore (The Substance), and Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez) over in the Golden Globes’ comedy/musical category, the drama race could be prime for an upset win.
Heavyweights Angelina Jolie (Maria) and Nicole Kidman (Babygirl) are the favorites, according to the Gold Derby panel of experts. Jolie is leading the pack with 37/10 odds and a whopping 1,200 users forecasting her victory, which includes 13 experts, seven editors, and 11 of the site’s top 24 users. Kidman is next at 4/1, followed by Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here) at 9/2, Pamela Anderson (The Last Showgirl) at 11/2, Tilda Swinton (The Room Next Door) at 13/2, and Kate Winslet (Lee) at 7/1.

Emma Stone was ranked as the #2 greatest actor of the millennium by ‘The Independent,’ beating out iconic stars like Denzel Washington (#4), Nicole Kidman (#5), and Daniel Day-Lewis (#3). The top spot went to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.
While many admire Emma’s talent and her two Academy Awards, some fans are upset about the ranking, especially Denzel’s supporters, who voiced their frustration online with memes and criticism. Despite the backlash, others believe Emma’s achievements speak for themselves, making the heated debate a trending topic.
Hollywood Legends like Tom Cruise (#60), Hugh Grant (#57), Matthew McConaughey (#55), Kate Winslet (#45) Leonardo DiCaprio (#17) are seemingly overshadowed by their younger colleagues as names like Florence Pugh (#10), Jennifer Lawrence (#15) Kristen Stewart (#16) outrank them.
Fans voiced their opinions online and they were quite convinced that the list was fake:

Over the years, some great movies have been made against the backdrop of Christmas that fans love to revisit year after year. While most of these movies are either critically acclaimed or box office blockbusters, some failed to resonate with audiences and critics when they were released but have since gone on to become cult classics. Will Smith’s Collateral Beauty is one such film.
Collateral Beauty (2016) | Credit: Warner Bros.
The film is based on Will Smith’s character, Howard Inlet. A pretty successful advertising executive, Howard ends up being seriously depressed after his daughter’s death, feeling as if there was no life left in him. Retreating from life, putting his and his company’s life in jeopardy, he ends up writing letters to Love, Time, and Death.
However, one thing leads to another, and he ends up meeting the three entities, ultimately realizing life is worth living despite the loss and heartbreak.

Actor Tobey Maguire rose to prominence with his role as Peter Parker / Spider-Man in the Sam Raimi trilogy of movies based on the popular superhero. The trilogy set the foundation for modern superhero blockbusters with Maguire becoming synonymous with the character. As a result, it is safe to say that Spider-Man is Maguire’s crowning achievement.

Who knew that for Kate Winslet, the story of Jack Dawson and Rose Bukater from Titanic would turn into a real-life tragedy? The story of Winslet and his former lover Stephen Tredre is a romantic tale turned tragic and it was then when Winslet saw a glimpse of how insensitive people are.

Everyone can agree that Kate Winslet was absolutely perfect as Rose in Titanic. Back then, all the boys wanted to date her, and all the girls wanted to be her. She looked breathtakingly beautiful in the movie, and the performance she delivered was nothing short of phenomenal.

She even managed to convince the entire world that there wasn’t any space left on that wooden door at that pivotal moment. But turns out there was a chance that MCU actress Gwyneth Paltrow could have played Rose instead of Winslet.
Titanic almost had Gwyneth Paltrow as Rose instead of Kate Winslet!
Some movie roles become so iconic that it’s nearly impossible to imagine anyone else playing them. Titanic is a perfect example, cementing Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet as Jack and Rose in the hearts of audiences everywhere.

In making the film Lee, about World War II correspondent Lee Miller, Kate Winslet chose to champion a woman who simply refused to become what society dictated. Against all odds, shucking off her reputation as a fashion model, at a time when women were not allowed to work with the British Army, Miller determinedly made her way into a career as a war correspondent, venturing into dangerous territory alongside troops, capturing Nazi atrocities. However, the extent of her work was largely undiscovered until, upon her death, her son Antony Penrose stumbled on her archives in the family attic. For Winslet, who would produce and star as Miller, this was a story of an unsung hero; a woman who was so much more than the oft-used description ‘muse’ to the artist Man Ray. So strongly did Winslet feel that at times during production, she dug into her own pockets to keep it going.

If the Golden Globes took place today, Wicked would be in the winner’s circle, according to the latest odds from Gold Derby.
While the box-office smashing adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical is contending four Golden Globes at the upcoming ceremony, is only predicted to win one: Cinematic and Box Office Achievement. This new category was created last year to honor a “popular” (pun intended) movie, with Barbie claiming the inaugural trophy. As for its other three bids, Wicked is forecasted to lose Best Film Comedy/Musical to Anora, Cynthia Erivo will miss out on Best Film Comedy/Musical Actress in favor of Anora‘s Mikey Madison, and Ariana Grande will be beaten in the Best Film Supporting Actress race by Emilia Pérez‘s Zoe Saldaña.

Leonardo DiCaprio needs no introduction today, having featured in some of the most popular movies of all time, including Titanic. However, DiCaprio’s close friend and contemporary Tobey Maguire revealed just how nonchalant he was.

More often than not, a producer credit can be a vanity play for an actor — a shortcut to getting a project greenlit or burnishing someone’s ego.
But then there’s Kate Winslet.

When you're trying to make your name in Hollywood, everyone has to start somewhere. It's a fact of life for just about every major actor or actress: You have to start small with your roles, like Amy Adams appearing in the beauty-pageant satire "Drop Dead Gorgeous" or Steven Spielberg's "Catch Me If You Can" years before she became an A-lister. Perhaps one of the most famous examples people love to trot out is that Michael Shannon plays a Wrestlemania-loving young man very briefly near the end of the 1993 comedy classic "Groundhog Day," 15 years before his Oscar-nominated turn in the Sam Mendes film "Revolutionary Road." But not every actor's humble beginning is the kind of thing they may want to brag about.

Eric: Nick and Nathaniel, I'm really excited about this volley because the Best Actress category is as always stacked, this year featuring at least a dozen ladies who stand a fairly legitimate shot at a nomination at this point. I thought it might be fun, before we get to the current leading contenders, to take a look at that back half of the possibilities to gauge your thoughts. Of the actresses that seem slightly less likely to nab a nomination this year...Kate Winslet, Pamela Anderson, Amy Adams, Tilda Swinton, Saoirse Ronan...do you see the winds changing in the weeks to come where any of them...

Acclaimed director Nancy Meyers recently revealed shocking details about her 2006 film The Holiday. She revealed that she never meant for it to become a seasonal favorite. Meyers highlighted her surprise at the film’s strong Christmas ties during a “Hollywood Gold” podcast appearance.
“I never saw it as a holiday movie ever,” she claimed. “I know it’s called ‘The Holiday’ because they’re taking a holiday, but it could have been called that if it was in the summer.”
“The Holiday” stars Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black, and the late Eli Wallach. The story centers on two women who swap residences for Christmas to escape their relationship problems. While the holiday setting has become key to the film’s appeal, Meyers noted that her location selection was motivated by deeper concerns.

If the 2006 movie The Holiday is included on your must-watch holiday movie list, that actually wasn’t Nancy Meyers’ intention.
The writer-director recently revealed on the Hollywood Gold podcast that she “never ever saw it as a holiday movie ever in my life.”
“I know it’s called The Holiday because they’re taking a holiday, but it could have been called that if it was in the summer,” she said, adding that she “was a little shocked at how much Christmas was in it” after rewatching it the other day.
The rom-com stars Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black and the late Eli Wallach. It follows movie trailer editor Amanda, who lives in Los Angeles, and journalist Iris, who lives in Surrey, England. The two decide to swap houses for two weeks at Christmas, hoping to forget their troubled love lives; however, love finds them anyway.

Kate Winslet faced cold Pacific Waters for Titanic ( Photo Credit – Facebook )
Yes, Kate Winslet faced close encounters with hypothermia and cold Pacific waters for Titanic. Winslet’s commitment to bringing Rose to life was so intense it left her with stories that still send chills down her spine.
Back in 1997, Titanic became not only a cultural phenomenon but also a grueling ordeal for Winslet. In a 2017 interview with Stephen Colbert, she admitted, “Yeah, I was really f*cking cold!” She wasn’t exaggerating. The Pacific water on set was so cold that, despite efforts to warm it up, it simply couldn’t be heated enough. The studio had too much water to manage any significant temperature control. It’s a wonder Winslet survived those scenes at all.

“Better Man,” the Australian-made biopic inspired by the life of British pop star Robbie Williams, received a leading six nominations for the 2025 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts (Aacta) International Awards on Tuesday. That reinforced the Oz academy’s love affair with writer-director Michael Gracey‘s (“The Greatest Showman”) musical spectacular, in which Williams is transformed into a chimpanzee, after it garnered a record-breaking 16 nominations at Aacta’s local awards earlier this month. “Better Man” is nominated for Best Film alongside “The Brutalist,” which tied with six noms, as well as Denis Villeneuve‘s epic sequel “Dune: Part Two” and critical darlings “Anora” and “Emilia Pérez.”

Kate Winslet has been a part of Hollywood for decades now. She has seen eras come and go, watching as the industry reinvented itself time and time again. During this duration, she has not been a spectator, actively taking part in several issues outside of her acting career. She has advocated for many things over the years, and that hasn’t changed in the slightest.

Most recently, the actress talked with Zoe Saldana about the industry as a whole. She specifically talked about her thoughts on what kind of films should be made. While she would have gotten a lot of support a few years ago, fans seem to be shredding her comments.

There's so many new shows that come our way every year. And while you do get comfortable with the series' that you become a fan of, it's never wrong to tune into something new. Many times, the trailers for a show will look intriguing, but then when the season is here it's a disappointment. HBO and Max had a few examples of that this year. Here's 4 HBO and Max shows from 2024 that let us down.
The Girls on the Bus
Despite its stellar cast, unfortunately that wasn't enough to keep our interest when it comes to The Girls on the Bus on Max. Frankly, the show was boring even though it did seem like an interesting premise with four female journalists on the presidential campaign trail. Of course each of them is also dealing with personal conflicts. Though overall, they weren't interesting enough to keep us invested in the story.

Zoe Saldaña and Kate Winslet connect easily, as colleagues who haven’t seen each other in a while often do: They worked together on James Cameron’s “Avatar: The Way of Water,” which was released in 2022, and will also appear in next year’s third film, “Fire and Ash.” Saldaña had created the role of Neytiri in the first “Avatar” in 2009, and Winslet — a Cameron veteran, of course, from “Titanic” — joined the ensemble as the character Ronal, a shaman and warrior.
Winslet recalls the warm environment Cameron established during the films’ rehearsal period, and “that sense of collaboration and willingness to share and listen and to invite ideas.” Saldaña agrees, and says, “It’s crazy what you can do when you’re given an unlimited amount of resources to put a character together. It’s the most rewarding process.”

If there is any part of the Critics Choice Awards and Golden Globes nominations that has its journalist voters patting themselves on the back, it’s all the love given to body horror hit “The Substance.”

Know more about Kendall Jenner’s Meow tattoo (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Kendall Jenner revealed the story behind this quirky ink. During a chat with Ellen DeGeneres, Kendall confessed that the tattoo was the result of a wild night out drinking with friends. “It was literally the first thing that came to my mind,” she laughed, admitting there was no deep meaning behind the choice. It was just a classic case of spontaneous, drunken thoughts taking over.
This isn’t Kendall’s first brush with tattoos that spark curiosity. Her Instagram followers often play detective, closely analyzing her ink updates, which tend to be small and subtle. She’s got two tiny tattoos on her middle fingers — a white dot inked back in 2015 by JonBoy in NYC and a broken white heart that matches a red version her friend Hailey Baldwin sports. These tattoos are barely visible but carry their own meaning for Kendall.
