Exclusive: Bleecker Street has dated their Sundance premiere title The Wedding Banquet starring Bowen Yang and Lily Gladstone for April 18 while their Telluride acquisition, the Bill Murray and Naomi Watts movie The Friend will start its limited rollout on March 21.

They’re both part of a 2025 theatrical release slate which includes Mike Leigh’s Hard Truths which is getting a wide release on Jan. 10, the Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun movie Love Me on Jan. 31; the Riz Ahmed, Sam Worthington and Lily James movie Relay in Q2 and the Damian Lewis and Thomasin McKenzie Feckham Hall later in the year.

Universal Pictures has announced that Wicked: Part Two has been given a new title, and will now be known as Wicked: For Good.

As fans of the hit Broadway musical will no doubt be aware, the song “For Good” is the second to last tune in the show, a duet between Elphaba and Glinda.

The first movie is still going strong at the box office after a month on general release. Director Jon M. Chu's critically-acclaimed adaptation remained in second place with $22.5 million from 3,689 venues in its fourth weekend in theaters, and is currently sitting at $359 million domestically and more than $524 million worldwide.

The sequel is also set to release slightly earlier than previously advertised, on November 21, 2025.

The landmark 50th season of “Saturday Night Live” continued its string of cameos from past cast members on Sunday with a surprise appearance by Adam Sandler, who popped up in a sketch with friend and frequent co-star Chris Rock, who hosted the latest episode.

In a sketch titled “Gallbladder Surgery,” Rock played a doctor operating on a patient alongside his support staff, played by Bowen Yang, Ego Nwodim, Emil Wakim and Sarah Sherman. It was Sherman who was the star of the sketch as a nurse named Lizly who keeps messing up in increasingly fatal ways.

Adam Sandler appeared in a Saturday Night Live sketch alongside fellow SNL alum Chris Rock, with Sandler playing a patient and Rock a surgeon.

The surgery to remove an appendix gets complicated by nurse Linzley (Sarah Sherman), who first fills out a form incorrectly, meaning the patient’s gallbladder is removed instead. Also, an AirPod belonging to Linzley ended up inside him. Linzley takes responsibility for the mistake, though.

“Oh my God!” she says, realizing her error. “Okay. I’m just gonna own it. It was me.”

In the sketch, Emil Wakim, Ego Nwodim, Bowen Yang and host Chris Rock play surgeons all scrubbed in and celebrating a successful surgery. But a less-than-responsible surgeon, played by Sarah Sherman, admits she screwed up her pre-op paperwork and the patient’s gallbladder was removed instead of his appendix.

While the medical team is shocked, Rock’s surgical lead asks the team not to be too hard on her, when the previously-covered patient sits up on the bed, revealing Sandler. His appearance leads to fake blood flying all over the cast, and he pressures Rock to open his mouth to stop the gushing. Rock does and is drenched with blood everywhere, including in his mouth, leaving the players and audience laughing.

“Saturday Night Live’s” cold open took direct aim at the internet obsession about Luigi Mangione, the alleged killer of the United HealthCare CEO Brian Thompson with a sketch that featured Sarah Sherman as true crime maven Nancy Grace.

“Y’all psychos find him a sex symbol,” Sherman as Grace told the audience in diving into the shocking story of the brazen Dec. 4 slaying in Manhattan of Thompson walked to an investor conference.
