Plot
In 1988, Bailey, Quinn, Keith, and Mac, a group of young students, choose to visit an old villa in the countryside to complete a school research project. Little do they realize that hidden within the mansion lies an ancient demonic text.
Cast
Creator Mattia Sarao's debut as a director and writer. The cast, really shockingly poor.
Verdict
I don't know why but I was quite excited for Book of the Dead, I mean yes the name is a bit generic but I liked the retro art style and a couple of screenshots I'd seen made me hopeful. I really really need to stop doing that? You know, having hope and expectations.
The plot is basically Evil Dead, no I mean seriously it's Evil Dead. Folks go to secluded place, find the Necronomicon, deal with possession and demons etc. It even rips off a classic scene from Army of Darkness (1992) and not in a brief homage way either.
So we have death and demons, so how in the blue hell is the movie so alarmingly boring. I found myself fighting back the urge to close my eyes and drift into something better, counting sheep would have been more entertaining so perhaps I shouldn't have fought it.
It's no exaggeration to say that very little really happens here, I'd hit the halfway mark and I realized that so far it was nothing more than poor character development, exposition of a non-existent plot and literally nothing else.
Book of the Dead is the creation of someone with no originality so they just rehashed (And blatantly ripped off) better films and by someone with zero talent behind the camera as a horror movie featuring this kind of content shouldn't be boring!
Rants
You know what this reminded me of? The internet series Horrorverse (2023) which was an attempt at a cinematic universe made up of short films and movies that brought together multiple horror universes and characters such as Halloween, Hellraiser, Friday 13th, Escape from New York, Marvel, Evil Dead and more and was truly unconditionally abysmal. It was an attempt at being a love letter to horror fans but wound up being an embarrassing slap in their collective faces. Book of the Dead is the same, it tries to pay homage to Evil Dead but does it so badly it's rather insulting to the fans and creators.
The Good
Love the cover art
The Bad
Dreadful cast Horrendous writing and direction Unforgivably boring.

Plot
In the near future with a intergalactic vampire plague threatening earth, an expedition is sent to a distant galaxy in hopes of discovering the plague's source. Landing on a mysterious planet they discover that Spectrum radiation has turned the atmosphere into a one-color tint. Exploring further, the group discovers living dinosaurs, a race of vampire cavemen, and other strange creatures.
Cast
Outside of John Carradine unfamiliar with anyone involved, I do find it interesting that the writer did nothing else though. Probably best.
Verdict
Horror of the Blood Monsters I assumed would be a hokey 70's creature feature of some description, within 5 minutes I assumed based on what I was watching it would be instead a goofy vampire movie with some of the most questionable looking vampires in cinema history. I was wrong on both counts, so very very very wrong.
So what is it? Well after 5 minutes of exposition about vampires and suggesting that's what the movie is going to be it suddenly becomes a very dated looking science fiction movie set on a space ship that looks like had been created by Blue Peter and then descends into a non-sensical plot that involves cave men. Yes, vampires to space ships to cavemen and that's not even the worst part.
Yes the worst elements are why this is a 1/10, I don't give 1/10's very often as that suggests the film is devoid of a single redeeming feature but this right here I can confidently say doesn't have one.
You see after the horror tease and the segway into tacky science fiction we arrive at the vast majority of the movie which is ruined by awful acting, random stock footage, a non-sensical plot and filters.....random colored filters! Everything is green, then red, then pink, then orange, it's deeply annoying and illogical oh and headache inducing!
I can't stress how bad Horror of the Blood Monsters is, because it's indescribable, unique and a flurry of random imagery that doesn't constitute as a movie at all.
Rants
Why? Just why did they think those filters were a good idea? Then again why did someone sign off on this at all? It's like a fever dream, induced by too many illegal substances and written by a child bouncing off the walls on energy drinks. Awful, just awful.
The Good
The opening scene the dated isn't awful
The Bad
Abyssal acting Those filters!
Story is a mess Teases one genre then veers into another.

Plot
A spell-bound Agatha Harkness regains freedom thanks to a teen's help. Intrigued by his plea, she embarks on the Witches' Road trials to reclaim her powers and discover the teen's motivations.
Cast
Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Patti LuPone, Paul Adelstein, the always adorable Debra Jo Rupp and a cameo from Evan Peters! No cast problems here.
Verdict
Love it or hate it nobody can dispute that the MCU has accomplished something truly astonishing. Am I a fan? Yes. Am I a blind fan who defends it senselessly and claims it's all great? Absolutely not. Some is incredible, some is dire, it's a mixed bag and that's simply inevitable and should not be frowned upon. Taste is subjective, I didn't like Dr Strange, Black Panther or several others that were critically acclaimed for example.
Agatha All Along follows the fascinating Wandavision (2021) and I'm shocked it actually exists. Think of all the high profile Marvel heroes that have failed to get their own movie/show and yet Agatha Harkness has?! Very unexpected but I wasn't against it, this could have turned out to be a wonderful surprise I thought. I was wrong, but not entirely.
You see I like Hahn, she just tends to do movies I don't enjoy and her over acting style comparable with Kristen Wiig can get old fast. Sadly that's here in abundance, however the shows writers seem to tug the character and her personality left and right so dramatically throughout the shows 9 episode runtime that sometimes she's more bearable than the others. Thankfully a fantastic support cast manage to balance the tone out, except Locke who is for the most part awful. Yes he improves as the show progresses but overall I found him somewhat annoying and you can't have two annoying characters, especially when essentially they're the dual leads!
The show flips from marginally above average stuff to quite enjoyable, it keeps your attention, it kept me intrigued and yet at all times it felt like something entirely unidentifiable was missing and that frustrated me all the way until the very poor finale.
Agatha All Along is a passable watch, it's a novelty addition to the MCU, an acceptable companion piece to Wandavision but don't expect it to make a lasting impression.

This is one of those IMDB credits that you don't want to delve into the 1/10 reviews because you know exactly what you're going to find. Let's break it down, female lead, gay side lead, almost every character in the show is some description of LGBT, lots of diversity throughout and you can even see a trans lives matter banner in the final episode. Yep, the "Anti-woke" brigade love this one and reading their drivel, vitriol and absurd justifications for their intolerance is infuriating. Live and let live people, don't get upset about things where there is no victim. Think of your blood pressure if nothing else!
The Good
Great cast Some really enjoyable moments It's "Different" and the industry needs more of that
The Bad
Some characters can be a tad annoying Doesn't flow as well as it should Dreadful finale.
