Joint Development of Automatic Charge/Discharge Control System for EVs and Commencement of Demonstration Tests
ITOCHU ENEX CO., LTD. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Tomofumi Yoshida, Representative Director, President and CEO) has developed an automatic charging/discharging control system for electric vehicles (hereinafter referred to as “EV”) that utilizes surplus electricity generated by solar power generation (hereinafter referred to as the “System”) in collaboration with IKS Co., Ltd. (Headquartered in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto; Representative Director: Takashi Imai) and Energy Solutions Inc. (Headquartered in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Toshio Moriue).
ITOCHU ENEX has started a demonstration test for optimizing energy use and efficiency at each business site using the System (hereinafter referred to as the “Demonstration”) at Higashimatsuyama office (located at: Higashimatsuyama - shi, Saitama) of ITOCHU INDUSTRIAL GAS CO.,LTD, a group company of ITOCHU ENEX.
■ Conceptual diagram of the System
The System charges EVs with surplus power obtained from solar power generation installed at business sites (factories) and automatically discharges the power stored in the EVs as electricity used at the business site (factory) when the peak demand value set in advance is approached. A proprietary energy management system (EMS) automatically controls a series of recharges and discharges to achieve optimal energy use.
The Demonstration aims to promote the introduction of EVs at the Higashimatsuyama office and reduce recharging costs. It also seeks to optimize energy use, verify efficiency, and confirm operational and technical requirements for the purpose of reducing peak electricity use and CO2 emissions on an office-by-office basis.
ITOCHU ENEX Group will continue to make use of renewable energy and expand its energy services to meet the diverse needs of its customers as it strives to achieve carbon neutrality.
