编辑推荐:Ashleigh and her mom move from Texas to a cold island after the divorce of Ashleigh's mom and dad. The island is either Michigan or Ohio, I'm not really sure which one. All I know, is that it is cold as the dickens there, and I shivered just reading this book. But I love reading about snow and imagining it; therefore, I loved the snow and cold weather and coffee and hot apple cider. She and her mother buy a big old house and plan to turn it into a Bed & Breakfast. Ashleigh froze her knees off, and I can understand how she must have felt, as she came from the same general area of Texas that I grew up in - I know how hot it is there!
This is a teen romance. I know - I am an adult, but there are two teen authors whom I really, really love, and those are Rachel Hawthorne and R.L. Stine. (And there are others, too.) Even though I am not much into romance novels, I love Rachel Hawthorne's books because of the atmosphere. This is the third book I've read by her, and in all three of them, the main character comes from NorthEast Texas to somewhere cold for their adventure. This particular adventure took place on a cold island during the winter. I can imagine how freezing cold I would be if I moved to Michigan or Ohio in the dead of winter. But this book is cozy, and that's all that counts. I enjoyed the teen relationships, the tour of homes, the coffee, the hot apple cider, the treats, the snow, and the cold weather. This book was predictable in spots, but that's okay because this book is really geared to a teen or pre-teen, and I am an adult. One small complaint, though: the "snowed in" scene wasn't long enough and detailed enough - but the rest of the book was good and substantial enough to make up for it - and since it is a teen book, I guess that was sufficient.
Even though this book is a fun, five-star book, I did enjoy "Thrill Ride" and "Love on the Lifts" by Rachel Hawthorne more.
内容简介:Well, apparently I live here now—my mom just bought the place. And named it after me, Ashleigh, which was nice. But did she know how cold it is here?
Um, it's a tiny island with not much to do, unless you really like sleigh rides. But I gotta say there are quite a few hot guys on this cold island...
