内容简介: 《普通高中英语课程标准》指出：高中阶段的外语教育需要满足国家的经济建设和科技发展对人才培养的需求。现代科技发展日新月异，新学科、新知识不断涌现，作为21世纪的高中生，必须了解科技的相关信息与常识。考虑到高中学生的语言能力和知识水平，我们选择语言难度适中的文章，并对部分文章中的难句或长句进行了改写。本教材所选材料新颖，能够反映诸多学科最新的发展动向；内容陈述图文并茂，利于学生理解；在课文与练习设计中，本教材充分考虑提高学生阅读能力，并兼顾传授科技基础知识。
参加本教材编写的有朱江、李玲芳、朱月兰、杨焱。朱江任主编，负责全书的策划、材料的选用与审定、练习的修改以及全书初稿的审定。教材第1单元的编写由编写组4人共同完成。李玲芳负责编写第2、3、10单元。朱月兰负责编写第4、5、6单元。杨焱负责编写第7、8、9单元。
