Why Delete Games From Your PS5?

The PS5 comes with a 1 TB hard drive, but you only have about 660 GB of usable storage. If you download a lot of games and apps, you can quickly run out of room on your console. If you can't download content because your hard drive is full, try deleting some games to free up space.

Alternatively, instead of deleting games, move them to a compatible USB external hard drive. A 2021 PS5 update includes this off-loading ability, which is a great way to free up space. When you're ready to play the game, copy it back to your internal storage. The game will even automatically update if a newer version came out while it was in USB extended storage.

You can also move recorded gameplay videos and some other content to an external device to save space.

How to Redownload Deleted PS5 Games

You can reinstall the games you've purchased digitally without having to purchase them again. From the PS5 Home screen, go to Game Library and select the game you want to reinstall.

How to Delete PS5 Saved Game Data

Deleting a game will not remove the saved data associated with that game. Follow these steps to remove PS5 and PS4 game save data:

  1. From the PS5 Home screen, select the Settings gear in the upper-right corner.

    Settings on PS5
  2. Select Saved Data and Game/App Settings.

"Saved Data and Game/App Settings" in PS5 settings
  3. Select Saved Data (PS5) or Saved Data (PS4).
