Upgrade Your ‘Minecraft’ Arsenal: How to Craft and Enchant a Bow

The world players inhabit in Minecraft is a dangerous one, and the bow is one of the simplest creations to make to dispatch hostile mobs. This article explains how to build a bow in Minecraft.

Materials Required to Make a Bow

The only materials needed to build a bow in Minecraft are sticks and string.

You will need three sticks and three strings to create one bow.

1. Create sticks at your crafting table using wooden logs.
   

2. Find string by defeating spiders.
   

3. Open the crafting table interface.
   

4. In the 3x3 grid, fill the rightmost row with the three strings.

5. Place a stick in the middle of the top and bottom rows and another stick in the left of the middle row, making the general shape of a bow.
   

6. The bow will appear on the crafting table menu; move the bow to your inventory.

After building a bow, you will want to craft arrows to have something for your bow to fire. You can also repair bows with other bows you craft as they degrade from use.

How to Craft an Infinity Bow in ‘Minecraft’

One enchantment in Minecraft that is unique to the bow is the Infinity enchantment. You can enchant one of your existing bows to make an Infinity Bow.

As long as you have at least one arrow in your inventory, you can fire as many shots as you want with an Infinity Bow without using up any.

With an Enchantment Table, place a bow in the first box of the Enchantment Table menu and three Lapis Lazuli in the second box. Three random enchantment options will show up in the Enchantment Table menu. Keep enchanting bows until Infinity is one of the enchantments.

If you have an Infinity enchantment book and have at least four Enchantment levels, you can use an Anvil to craft an Infinity Bow. Open the Anvil crafting menu and place a bow in the first box. Place the Infinity book in the second box. Pull the Infinity Bow out of the third box and place it in your inventory.

Other Enchanted Bows in ‘Minecraft’

You can use other enchantments to upgrade your bow in Minecraft on an Enchantment Table or an Anvil.

• Curse of Vanishing: A cursed bow will disappear when the player dies.
• Flame: Arrows will set targets on fire when hitting them.
• Mending: The player can use their experience points (XP) to repair their bow.
• Power: Arrows will inflict higher amounts of damage on enemies.
• Punch: When an arrow strikes an enemy, the enemy will recoil backward a greater distance.
• Unbreaking: The bow will have a higher amount of durability.
