Window shutters

Shutters were originally installed to protect interiors from wind and weather. With the introduction of window glass, the shutter served to protect the glass front.

Today, shutters are primarily used for privacy and sun protection or for decorative purposes. Shutters can also act as limited burglary protection thanks to the locking mechanism.
