Roman Platz 1967

I grew up and went to school in Klosters. Even as a young boy, I often spent time with my grandfather in his forge/locksmith's shop in Alvaneu. I first trained as a carpenter, but my fascination for metal and forging in particular led to a second apprenticeship as a metalworker.
In 1990, I took over my grandfather's workshop. Our family's blacksmithing tradition is documented as being over 300 years old.
I have lived and worked in Alvaneu with my wife Margrith ever since and we run our business together with joy and conviction.
In 2000, I received a sponsorship award from the canton of Graubünden for "Bündner Kunsthandwerk". This enabled me to continue my education at the University of Art and Design in Zurich.
My work usually has a contemporary design language, with a focus on forging techniques. I also carry out metal construction and locksmith work.
Individual solutions in metal and other materials are an interesting challenge for me.
