Floor coverings in wood (parquet) 

Parquet made of wood is a floor covering option with virtually no limits in terms of pattern variety and choice of wood. Colors, sizes and various types of surface treatment are just a few of the wide range of species that make the use of wood as a floor covering attractive.

In addition, wood, as well as bamboo and cork, are natural products made from renewable raw materials, the sustainability aspects of which are increasingly becoming an issue today.

The natural and warm look of wood enhances any living area.

A typical and valuable feature of parquet is that it can be sanded once or several times, depending on the wood and wear layer. This process gives parquet a new look. The purchase of parquet flooring is therefore also an investment in the future.

Sealed or oiled

Sealing creates a protective lacquer layer that seals the pores of the wood structure and allows the flooring to be used as a largely undemanding surface. This results in advantages such as lower moisture absorption, less cleaning effort and better scratch resistance. However, depending on the degree of use, a sealing layer may require resealing after a few years with the corresponding sanding effort.

Oiled finished parquet, oxidative or UV-cured products are available on the market with individual advantages or disadvantages, depending on the application or usage specifications. The main difference between an oiled parquet surface and a lacquer finish is the fact that the wood is treated with oil or optionally with an oil-wax mixture. This is more reminiscent of an impregnation as the oil penetrates the wood structure. This type of wood finish must be repeated at recurring intervals. However, with this type of treatment, wood grain and growth structures are much more visible (accentuation) so that the wood material comes into its own more naturally than with a sealant.

Floating installation: Here the parquet is laid floating on a footfall sound carpet pad, this is particularly suitable in renovation projects, as different types of subfloors, slight floor unevenness or coarse structures play no or a negligible role.

Full-surface bonding: This is certainly the most commonly used method of installation, as it offers clear advantages in terms of the intimate connection to the subfloor (underfloor heating) and possibly more favorable room sound conditions.

Parquet

A product with many faces and a wide range of possible applications. It is always an imitation or replica of wood, bamboo, stone or ceramic flooring, whereby the pattern is photographically pressed onto a wooden substrate. (Direct laminate or layered laminate). The mechanical and high-precision locking or click systems commonly used today, which enable the individual installation panels to be connected without glue, are based on the HDF= (high-density fiberboard) carrier material.

The density of this versatile wood-based material ( approx. 960 kg per m3 ) gives the carrier material the necessary density, which is the reason for the typical predicates of laminate flooring, namely: compressive strength and extensive scratch and glow resistance.

This makes the flooring ideal for the renovation of old buildings, the rental housing sector and building structures that may also have some catching up to do in terms of acoustic or thermal optimization. There are many possibilities with appropriate fleece underlays. The advantages in terms of cleaning and low maintenance are also not to be overlooked. The repeatedly criticized properties of floating laminate flooring in terms of room sound (resonance) are nowadays countered by quite suitable and efficient products with corresponding sound-absorbing backing coatings (Sound Protect systems).
