Description
The History of Open Space
In the northern neighborhood of Bellinzona, which had grown up without urban planning, there had long been a need for a place to socialize.
It was then that it was thought to build in the meadows of the convent, a center that would allow the population to gather to meet their social and cultural needs.
The facts did not want said center to be an offshoot of the Church but promoted a lay association to run it.
So in 1992 Spazio Aperto was born at 9a Gerretta Street
.Since its first years of operation, the Center has proved to be of great use not only to the neighborhood of the city of Bellinzona but, given its location, it is in demand throughout Ticino and even from Inland Switzerland as a meeting place.
Those who have used it so far have always admired the essentiality of its architectural lines, the convenience of its spaces that allows assemblies and small study groups, as well as concerts of various kinds.
But what is most appreciated is the fact that a large group can exclusively book the entire center so as to carry out entire days of study, even stopping for lunch or dinner.
The Conferences
The halls of Open Space are particularly suitable for all those companies, associations, educational institutions that need their own space to be able to set up conferences, assemblies, meetings or courses of any kind there, when the need arises.It is also possible to use our hall for political events, art presentations or even, as it already happens, to use our main hall for musical and artistic essays.
The Conference Hall
The main hall is located on the ground floor, has a capacity with a theater configuration of as many as 250 seats.Access to the conference hall is immediately in front of the entrance to the center itself, and in the immediate vicinity there are outdoor parking spaces available in addition to the private indoor parking that Open Space provides for its clientele. In addition to the main hall,Spazio Aperto, can also offer intermediate solutions with spaces from 20 to 80 seats.All intermediate halls are reached by the signal Wi-fi of our Hot Spot, can be equipped with a beamer screen.
The Halls
Different and suitable for all purposes are the rooms that Open Space makes available for its clients.
The facility is divided into three levels, a cool and yet bright basement level that houses our "Youth Room", the hostel rooms and a small Bar that is activated for breakfasts or upon request of customers. Toilets and showers for hostel guests.The Ground Floor, is the main floor including the lounge, reception hall, toilet facilities and offices of our association. Climbing the stairs or the lift available, one reaches the upper floor where 4 rooms are available that can be used for courses or small meetings. Obviously present on this level as well are the restrooms.
The Salon
This is our main reception room. It has a floor area of 235 sq. m. and up to 250 people can take a seat in theater configuration.It is ideal for wedding banquets, aperitifs or corporate meetings, assemblies and conventions. It is equipped with a sound system with table or radio frequency microphones, variable lighting, and a projection screen of as much as 3.5 meters. For wedding banquets, our hall can comfortably accommodate up to 150 people.
The Youth Room
The Youth Room is located on the -1 level, the room is especially cool on hot summer days and sufficiently lighted.
The room's square footage of no less than 120 sq. m. allows it to accommodate up to 120 people in theater or aperitif configuration, or however as many as 60/80 for classes, meetings or business lunches and dinners. The room has Flip chart, beamer and projection screen. With the youth room, you have the option of independent access, floor toilets, and upon request a small but complete Bar for breaks or breakfasts.
The 1-2-3-4 Rooms
Suitable for meetings, classes or business lunches, they are located on the second floor, are all independent, very bright and can hold about 15 to 30 people.
In addition, rooms 3 and 4 can be unified into a single room and can accommodate up to about 40 people.All rooms are served by toilets on the floor, connection Wireless Internet and are equipped on request with Beamer, flip chart and whatever else is needed by the client.
The Hostel
The hostel Open Space offers groups of students, sportsmen or just groups of friends, a valid and economical accommodation to be able to spend the night in our city.
The availability of beds is limited, so normally those staying at our hostel are the only guests for that night, which makes the stay even more comfortable.
The Rooms
The hostel of Open Space was made out of the civil defense rooms. It is located in the basement level and therefore without windows. It is definitely spartan, but still offers tranquility, cleanliness and comfort.

Our in-house restaurant
One of the main and important features of Open Space is the food service. Our facility is particularly suited to the reception of wedding luncheons and aperitifs, banquets, business dinners, corporate refreshments and much more.
Our chef will be able to propose to customers the best solutions for every need, evaluating together with the customer all aspects of the service, from the organization of the room, the choice of the menu and no less important aspect, the right economic compromise. In fact, it is possible to propose customized menus according to a spending budget set by the client.
The Salon
With 235sqm and 8 meters in height, our hall can comfortably accommodate up to 250 people for cocktails and 150 for luncheons and banquets.An appropriate sound system can cheer the guests' stay. A small stage also can lend itself to shows or simple performances.
