PEDAGOGY AT LYCEE PRIVE RODOLPHE TÖPFFER :
The Lycée privé Rodolphe Töpffer places great importance on the individual balance of the child through in-depth studies and numerous cultural and sporting activities.
Developing moral qualities, a sense of solidarity and responsibility, establishing a climate of trust between students and teachers, and valuing their work and efforts are among the priorities of the management and teaching staff and are inseparable from academic success.
- Personalized, high-quality teaching is provided by competent, experienced and motivated teachers, chosen for their pedagogical sense and psychology.
- Teachers' wide availability, regular assessments and online tracking of homework and grades ensure effective collaboration between parents, teachers and students.
- Daily studies for all classes are supervised by teachers and aim to help students and relieve them of homework. These study hours are integrated into a continuous timetable.
- High requirements implement both :
- memory and inventiveness,
- reasoning and imagination,
- concentration and learning independence,
- respect for rules and initiative.
- OUR SCHOOL IN THE SPIRIT OF RODOLPHE TÖPFFER: Rodolphe Töpffer (1799 - 1846), a renowned Geneva writer and artist, was also a schoolmaster whose spirit matches our convictions :
Traditional, structured teaching in a friendly, family-like setting that provides personalized support for each student based on his or her current needs and future. He attached as much importance to the academic progress of each of his pupils as he did to their personal development through a taste for observation, a critical and above all curious eye for all things, the practice of the arts (drawing, painting, theater, music...) and extra-curricular sporting activities (mountain hikes...).
When the pedagogue was a pedagogue, he was also a teacher.
When humanist pedagogue Joseph Gabioud père founded his school in 1954, he named it after the illustrious Genevan Rodolphe Töpffer.
Currently consolidated and recognized through multiple ongoing pedagogical, structural and technological improvements, the Lycée Rodolphe Töpffer is run by Monsieur Joseph Gabioud fils.
"Nothing so common as methods, nothing so rare as conscience."
Rodolphe Töpffer
Open-mindedness is a priority : not to be confined by a rigid method, but instead to continuously follow the pace of each student's progress in a personalized way.
"To love school today is to love life tomorrow."
Rodolphe Töpffer
Through the learning of academic and individual responsibility, our aim is for each student to thrive in a group, with respect for those around them, and take an interest in a thorough general culture.
- ADMISSION: One of the essential elements for a child's emulation and academic success is to be in a class whose pupils possess a homogeneous level of knowledge. In order to ensure this level match at the time of enrolment, we study the latest school report or administer a pre-admission test if deemed necessary.
As a matter of fact, the Lycée privé Rodolphe Töpffer is not intended to provide remedial education for students with academic difficulties. Far from being considered a selection, these admission requirements are a guarantee of happy assimilation to the class and easier access to academic success.
