Agrotomato SA was founded in 2007 by an idea of Claudio Cattori and Emma, after having gained and consolidated a great experience in agricultural production of effort and ambition, with nothing in hand but a handful of dreams and ideas. The company is engaged in the production and marketing of fresh fruits and vegetables, enhancing them nationwide.

The company Agrotomato SA began its activity in January 2007. In fact, Claudio Cattori and his family after the expropriation by Alptransit of the company in Camorino decided to embark on this new challenge. 

This step gives birth to a modern company that over the years has developed and enlarged, making it one of the most important companies in the Ticino horticultural sector.

With the same passion as always, the Cattori family produces different vegetables according to the season with full respect for the environment and maximum freshness. 
 

Greenhouse products

Sheltered from the vagaries of the weather and kissed by the Ticino sun, our tomatoes grow inside the various sections of the greenhouse. The seedlings are planted in the second week of January, 10 weeks after the planting mass we can begin to harvest the first fruits.

As a rule for small-fruited varieties (Cherry) the harvest begins in the middle of April, on the other hand for Ramati we have to be a little patient, as a rule the first important harvests begin towards the end of the month.

Crops last until mid-November after which the facilities are cleaned, disinfected and prepared for the new crop cycle.

Field production follows the natural rhythm of the seasons although in recent years at the behest of the consumer several vegetables are grown in medo period suitable for its cultivation. 

The plots managed by the company are located in the municipalities of Giubiasco, Cadenazzo and Gudo.

Our produce is produced according to the following production standards:

Suisse Garantie: The certification mark of origin, Suisse Garantie checks that the raw materials come from Swiss agriculture and processed exclusively on Swiss soil

Swiss Gap: Swiss Gap is an association whose aim is to introduce the Global Gap standard in Switzerland taking into account the particular Swiss structures. For horticulture it was developed based on the current needs of integrated production.
 

We respect the environment around us

The company seeks to produce with techniques that respect the environment around us.

In fact, since October 2012 we have been heating our greenhouses with heat from the Giubiasco waste-to-energy plant. By choosing this source of heat we have abandoned Propane Gas  zeroing CO2 emissions at a stroke. As a company we were already certified by the federal government as a reduced-emissions company, and by changing the energy carrier we fulfill the new national policy on CO2 emission reductions.

In greenhouse crops we practice biological control against various pests. Through the introduction of these beneficial insects, we are able to keep the main pests under control, which are Whitefly, Red Cobweb, Thrips and Lice.

To achieve a complete and regular fertilization of Tomato flowers we use Bombi, it is provided to us in hives and the duration of the same is 8-10 weeks, in the first 6 they are more active.

Our tomato plants are planted in a substrate made of coconut fiber,  at the end of the crop the same is spread in the fields as a soil conditioner as it is a natural product.

As for sales, we use only foldable crates for internal company logistics, this saves us unnecessary trips with our vans as well as CO2 emissions
