CFJM / Centre de Formation au Journalisme et aux Médias – Contacts & Location
Description
The CFJM, No. 1 in journalism training in French-speaking Switzerland
The Centre de Formation au Journalisme et aux Médias (CFJM) is the leading journalism and media training center in French-speaking Switzerland. It is the result of the merger of the Centre romand de formation des journalistes (CRFJ), responsible since 1965 for the professional training of journalists and the Fondation de Formation continue des journalistes (FCJ), created in 1979 to offer them seminars and advanced courses.
The CFJM is owned by Médias Suisses (newspaper publishers), Impressum (Swiss journalists) and RTS/SSR through a non-profit foundation reconnue d'utilité publique. Its training services are as follows:
Journalism diploma
The CFJM Diploma in Journalism is based on the dual training system dear to Switzerland. People of all ages and backgrounds hired by the media in French-speaking Switzerland as "stagiaires journalistes" undergo a two-year practical training course known as the "stage RP", aimed at joining the Professional Register of Journalists and obtaining a press card. During these two years, trainee journalists, whatever their media, follow ten weeks of theoretical and practical training at the CFJM. Anyone wishing to join the CFJM's initial professional training must therefore first find an internship position in a recognized media outlet: press, agency, radio, television, website or online information platform. It is also possible to follow the training as a freelance journalist or as an auditor or auditor.
The "Diplôme de journaliste" from CFJM is the only one recognized by the profession and all the media in French-speaking Switzerland, along with the "Master en journalisme, Option journalisme" from l'Académie du journalisme et des médias (AJM) at the University of Neuchâtel, of which CFJM has been a partner since its creation in 2008.
Continuing education
The CFJM also offers continuing education. These seminars and courses are offered face-to-face at its premises at the Maison de la Communication, in Lausanne, or online, or in-house. The catalog of continuing training courses is constantly renewed and adapted to the needs of professionals wishing to refine or update their knowledge. These courses are also open to auditors who wish to improve their writing skills or learn about and master the tools specific to the media and the practice of journalism.
Communication
Since May 2020, CFJM has been offering a series of masterclasses focusing on Responsible Communication. An innovative communications strategy that goes beyond promotion and short-term financial objectives, to focus on creating content carrying credibility, recognition and impact. The common objective of the various masterclasses is to offer every responsible person and every public or private entity the opportunity to create thought leadership and build a sustainable community of interest and audience.
Media training and coaching
The CFJM also offers Media training courses for players in the public and media arenas. In one or two days, managers from companies, administrations or associations learn how to better communicate in the press and media. Under the guidance of recognized professionals, they train their ability to express themselves effectively and with ease in debates or radio/TV interviews.
A individual coaching and tailor-made coaching is also available for those wishing to improve the quality of their writing or expression.
