The ALVAD Associazione Locarnese e Valmaggese di Assistenza e Cura a Domicilio was established on 5.10.1999, as an association under private law (art.60 et seq. CCS). Today, in accordance with the Law on Assistance and Care at Home of November 30, 2010 (LACD), ALVAD is recognized by the State Council as a SACD (Service of Assistance and Care at Home) of public interest for the Locarnese and Vallemaggia District. In Vallemaggia, the service is provided independently, through a performance contract, by AVAD (Associazione Valmaggese Casa Anziani, Invalidi Adulti e Aiuto Domiciliare). ALVAD is an aconfessional and nonpartisan association, is non-profit, and is recognized as a public benefit organization for tax purposes.

The association is a non-profit organization.

The members of ALVAD are:

- all municipalities in the Locarno and Vallemaggia Districts

- the Entities and Associations based or active in the Locarno and Vallemaggia Districts, which carry out their activities in the field of 'home care and assistance and who have paid the membership fee

- All natural or legal persons who have paid the annual membership fee

may also become Members without voting rights.

Scope

The purpose of ALVAD is to enable the stay at home of any person who, ?due to illness, accident, disability, maternity, old age or socio-familial difficulties needs care and assistance. The provision of these services is subsidiary to the personal and family resources of the users; each person can benefit from the provision of services in a form compatible with the existing resources in the area (art. 1 and 2 LACD)."

Objectives

- To promote, through preventive measures, the maintenance of the health status of the population

- To ensure continuity in the process of treatment and care, enabling return to the home after hospitalization

- Providing practical help in daily activities of home economics

- Helping those in need of continuous care and assistance by offering support to families.

 

 

HORARIES AND METHODS OF INTERVENTION

As a rule, the ALVAD intervenes between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays(Monday through Friday)

In cases where the need and necessity is found (to ensure the continuity of care and/or in the impossibility of relying on the user's personal and family resources), services are also guaranteed, in collaboration with Ticino Soccorso, in the evening (18.00-21.00) and night time and on weekends/holidays (7 days a week).
