Description
Rive-Neuve Foundation
The RIVE-NEUVE foundation is a Specialized Palliative Care Hospital for complex and unstable patients with incurable diseases.
The facility can accommodate 20 patients in single rooms only, covered by basic LAMal insurance.
Our definition of palliative care is based on those of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Swiss Society for Palliative Medicine and Care (palliative.ch). Palliative care is active (moving) care delivered with a holistic approach and aimed at improving the quality of life of patients and their loved ones, faced with a serious, incurable illness that is life-threatening in the short to medium term.
At the Rive-Neuve Foundation, palliative care:
✓ Aims to relieve pain and other symptoms of discomfort (somatic and psychic);
✓ Supports life in vulnerable situations and considers death a natural process;
✓ Does not accelerate or delay the onset of death;
✓ Integrate psychological and spiritual aspects into the care delivered to patients;
✓ Offer a support system to help patients live as actively as possible until death occurs ;
✓ Offer support for loved ones in coping with the patient's illness and support during the bereavement period;
✓ Use a multi-professional team approach to meet the needs of patients and their loved ones, including bereavement assistance where necessary;
✓ Will improve quality of life and potentially positively influence the course of the disease;
✓ Can be considered supportive care, or early palliative care, when oncology treatments are continued in the palliative phase. They include the investigations required to better understand troublesome clinical complications, in order to remedy them.
In addition to our inpatient activity, we offer outpatient services, contact us if you would like further information
