ALL ABOUT US
At the foot of the Bernina...
From the Bernina Pass, where the Poschiavino River rises, to the gates of Valtellina, stretches the Valposchiavo.
Once the territory of breeders and farmers, the primary sector currently employs about 10 percent of the active population in livestock breeding, meat and milk production, herb cultivation and forestry.
The Valposchiavinians' love and respect for the land and its products, combined with an entrepreneurial spirit and courage for the new, have paid off. Purposeful entrepreneurial choices have enabled the primary sector to maintain competitiveness and stay in step with the times.

Quality bio suisse
In 2012 there were 5,731 farms in Switzerland managed according to BIOSUISSE guidelines; together with a few other farms, which produce according to federal BIO standards, farms managed according to organic principles accounted for 11.3 percent of all farms in Switzerland. In Poschiavo, more than 90 percent of the agricultural area is cultivated by BIOSUISSE-certified farms.
The market for organic products is growing steadily; in 2012 there was an increase in sales of 5.3 percent, to CHF 1.83 billion. The organic food market has long been growing faster than the market for other foodstuffs.
The reasons for this tremendous growth lie in increased environmental awareness and the availability of BIO products in an increasing number of stores and branches.
The Valposchiavo dairy has always been, with pride and conviction, an organically oriented business, processing silage-free milk from about fifteen farms.
bio.inspecta certifies at regular intervals the BIOSUISSE quality of the products of the Valposchiavo Cheese Factory.
It is an important recognition, a seal of approval and an incentive to pursue other goals: with love for the land,
