What you need to know

What is comfort ventilation

A comfort ventilation system essentially consists of a central ventilation unit with heat recovery and a piping system. This constantly supplies fresh air to the living spaces and removes the "used" air again. The use of the warm exhaust air to heat the fresh air is fundamental to energy efficiency.

The fresh outside air is supplied to the ventilation unit via the outside air intake and an optional geothermal heat exchanger. The outside air is filtered and heated in the ventilation unit. To do this, it is passed through a heat exchanger and tempered with the warm exhaust air from the building. Fresh air and exhaust air do not come into contact. The fresh air is fed into the living rooms and bedrooms via the supply air duct. It then passes through the corridor to the kitchen and sanitary rooms. From there, the "used" air returns to the ventilation unit via the exhaust air duct, is used in the heat exchanger to heat the fresh air and is then discharged to the outside via the exhaust air duct.

Energy efficiency

High energy losses due to window ventilation are a thing of the past with comfort ventilation. With a heat exchanger, the warm exhaust air from the interior rooms is used to heat the fresh air. In addition to comfort reasons, investing in comfort ventilation also ensures the long-term value retention of a building.

Pollen and (fine) dust are filtered out of the outside air by high-quality filters. The dust in the room is continuously removed by the exhaust air flow.

The windows can remain closed - but they don't have to be. If you feel like opening the windows, you can do so at any time. However, you will notice that you rarely feel the urge, especially in winter!

Reservations & limitations

Comfort ventilation systems are not yet common practice. As with any new technology that only a few people know personally, there are reservations and unjustified prejudices. On the other hand, exaggerated expectations or false promises are a source of disappointment. In itself, comfort ventilation is only intended to replace stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air preheated to a comfortable level.
