The Alpenrose was built in 1862 as a hotel/restaurant and is therefore the first and oldest guest house in Sils-Maria.

Friedrich Nietzsche, the great philosopher, used to eat his meals in the Stüva Alpenrose almost every day. In the 1960s, the hotel became a victim of speculators. As a result, the hotel and restaurant were closed.
 
In 1999, the house was largely demolished and rebuilt, but no longer as a hotel but as a residence with condominiums. The requirement of the municipality of Sils  was that a restaurant had to be integrated into the house!

The Alpenrose restaurant has belonged to our family since 2010. I developed a love of cooking in my parents' house, Hotel Sonne Fex.

The passion to be able to do more has taken me to various establishments, including an apprenticeship as a chef at the Hotel Suvrettahouse St. Moritz, followed by an apprenticeship at Villa Principe Leopoldo. Villa Principe Leopoldo Lugano, Sonnenberg Zurich with Jacky Donatz, Riffelalp Zermatt, sous chef at Palafitte Neuchatel and head chef at Resort Gangehi in the Maldives, Mathis Food, St. Moritz.
