In 1947, Gottfried Hubschmid began producing electroplated grinding instruments. As a trained dentist, he proved himself to be a pioneer in the processing of new materials, in addition to the use of natural diamonds. Ruby and sapphire were processed into the well-known Rubynit and DIARIT laboratory trimmers. A small range of HP and RA was also produced alongside disks and wheels.

In 1963, the Hubschmid family moved from Reute (Appenzell) to Steinach on Lake Constance. At the same time, Kurt Hubschmid, a trained toolmaker, joined the HEICO company. Together they continuously expanded the FG diamond product range until 1973. Gottfried Hubschmid then withdrew from the dental business.
Ursula, Kurt's wife, actively supported her husband in the company and together they developed a new product: the glass scribers. In the early eighties, a greatly modernized and expanded product range of all types of dental grinding instruments for the dental laboratory and surgery was the result of the goal of being able to bring a better quality of instruments to the market than was generally available.

Due to the ever decreasing space available, the HEICO company moved again in 2000. At the new location, not far from the former company headquarters, Kurt Hubschmid has state-of-the-art facilities for the manufacture of dental grinding instruments at his disposal. This enabled a further increase in quality to be achieved. The worldwide success of HEICO products confirms the precision and quality of HEICO products.

In 2003, the company was handed over to Martin Egli. Martin Egli is a trained electroplater and will be able to further improve HEICO products thanks to his expertise.
