Celtor SA – Contacts & Location
Description
The story of Celtor, an acronym for Centre d'ELimination et de Traitement des ORdures, began in 1977 on the initiative of several communes. In the space of forty years, the little house with its geranium-lined windows has metamorphosed into a high-performance company, serving the population in its business park, while intensifying the values of proximity and availability that have made its reputation today.
From the simple idea of entrusting waste management to an external organization, Celtor's mandate has evolved into a public interest limited company specializing in the collection, treatment, recovery and storage of waste. Today, Celtor is a public limited company comprising twenty-five communes in the Bernese Jura and two communes in the Jura. It operates a surface area of 80,000 m2 and employs 17 people to process an ever-increasing volume of waste.

- Following a request from the Department of Water and Energy Economics in Bern, L'ADOR (Association pour l'aménagement et la défense de l'Orval) is studying the creation of a controlled landfill for the communes within a 20-kilometer radius of Tavannes, with the exception of the communes in the Vallon de Saint-Imier. The Ronde-Sagne site, located on land owned by the communes of Tavannes and Reconvilier, quickly proved to be the most favorable location.
On an initial survey list, there were 32 interested communes.
