Karate-Club Wohlen – Contacts & Location
Description
With the first training sessions under the direction of Werner Schenker in November 1973, then still known as the Karate-Club Freiamt, the foundation stone was laid and thus the founding of today's Karate-Club Wohlen. After various stops in Freiamt, the training evenings finally arrived in Wohlen in 1975, where this martial art in the Kyokushinkai karate style continued to gain popularity and ever-increasing interest. Under the relentless efforts of Werner Schenker, hundreds of people of different ages learned the skills of this far-eastern martial art. In August 1977, a training course for school-age girls and boys was held for the first time, which is still attended with great interest by many young people between the ages of 9 and 16. In addition to his commitments in his own club, Schenker also worked intensively at national level in the "Swiss Kyokushinkai-Kan Karate" (SKK) association, of which the Wohlen Karate Club was an important member. After many years of disagreement, KC Wohlen left the SKK in 1990 and belonged to the "Swiss Oyama Karate Organization" (SOKO) until 1996. In May 1996, as a result of closer and good cooperation with various clubs that had left the SKK in previous years, a new federation "International Federation of Karate Switzerland" (IFK) was founded, of which KC Wohlen has been a member ever since. This association is internationally affiliated to IFK England.
