UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is one of a total of 33 national UNICEF committees. They all have the task of providing information about the work of the children's charity, collecting donations for the programs and campaigning for the implementation of children's rights.

The Committee for UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein was founded as an association in 1959 - at that time still under the name Swiss Committee for UNICEF. Like all 33 national UNICEF committees, we provide information about the work of the children's charity, collect donations for its global programs and work to ensure that children's rights are respected and implemented here in Switzerland too.

UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is financed exclusively by private donations. An agreement with UNICEF international obliges us to make the donations available for international programs within 18 months.

The supreme body of UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is the Assembly of Delegates. The delegates are elected by our members for four years at a time and work on a voluntary and unpaid basis. Among other things, they appoint the Executive Board and the committee members and are responsible for the strategic and normative management of the committee.

UNICEF Switzerland and Liechtenstein is certified according to ISO 9001:2015.

The UNICEF Foundation

Generous donations and legacies to UNICEF are often linked to the desire to help in the long term and leave something lasting. The Foundation of the Swiss Committee for UNICEF, based in Zurich, was established for this purpose in 2000. The foundation manages the donations over a longer period of time and continuously distributes amounts to the committee, from where they flow into the program work.
