The plan designer debuted at the Power Platform Community Conference (PPCC) in September 2024. The excitement and passion from customers led to a very successful Early Adopter Program, where makers got to preview and generate end-to-end Power Platform solutions using the plan designer. Many acknowledged the value plan designer adds to their daily workflows, which makes them more productive and accelerates the solution planning process.

How plan designer will change the way you build solutions
Creating an effective business solution requires careful planning and a deep understanding of stakeholder needs. Gathering all the necessary business requirements is essential for developing a comprehensive end-to-end solution architecture. Traditionally, this often takes considerable time and effort. With the plan designer, it can now help you streamline that process to be more efficient.
In the plan designer, you can start with a simple description of the business problem or additional context like process diagrams, the plan designer guides you through the planning process by generating necessary user roles and user stories through Copilot.
Step by step, plan designer then walks you through the rest of the solution architect process to generate Dataverse tables, which are also shown in an entity-relationship diagram (ERD) in Data Workspace, as well as a set of user experiences designed for the user roles previously defined. At any point, you can provide feedback to change the plan through Copilot. All artifacts like the plan document, Dataverse tables, and user experiences are then saved in a solution, ready to be tested and deployed. Makers can also specify the publisher these generated objects (Dataverse tables and user experiences) are saved with. This allows the solution to be easily exported and deployed across different environments, supporting healthy application lifecycle management.
