The National Park Service Director is appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the United States Senate. The director, duty-stationed at National Park Service headquarters in Washington, DC, regularly meets with external organizations to advance the National Park Service mission. This position also chairs the Committee for the Preservation of the White House.
The National Park Service director is supported by senior executives who manage national programs, policies, and the National Park Service budget, as well as seven regional directors responsible for national park management and program implementation. The director reports to the Secretary of the Interior and works closely with the Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks.
