As a Law Enforcement Professional and a Rifle Operator since 1991, I would give a great rating for the Shepherd Scope I purchased from Optics Planet. It is versatile and I can use it on my AR-10 or my Remington 700. It has a one shot zero type of system that makes it user friendly. The customer service at Optics Planet is second to none. The Optics Planet staff helped me with future accessory items that would work with this scope. I even got a holiday purchase discount which the Optics Planet staff made sure was applied to purchase. All in all a very positive experience and purchase.

Expert Review
Adjustments Made Easy
Picked up this scope for a target .223 upper I put together.
I had read about the dual reticle system and wanted to try it. Very impressed. I would definitely use this scope next time I find myself shooting prairie dogs.
It makes zeroing the rifle about as easy as can be and being able to see the adjustments you are making as they happen is really useful.
The scope is well built and the glass clarity is on par with the price point. The adjustable objective is nice to have, especially if I end up putting this scope on a .22LR gun.
The Shepherd reticle is great for holdover compensation without cluttering your view. It is an accurate ballistic drop tool instead of an estimate like most which you can tell that time and research went into designing the reticle.
I wish the scope had illumination but that's a personal preference. My only real complaint is that this is a rather long scope. Trying to mount it without a cantilever mount and on a shorter receiver rail (like for a bolt gun) could be a challenge. Probably would have eye relief issues.
Otherwise I am very happy with this scope and would definitely look to try more Shepherd scopes in the future.
