Very pleased with the clarity and ease to use. I feel the price I paid on cyber week was excellent. Waiting to see how it does at the range. Might be a little large to put in back pack but guess it depends on what else you are packing. Definitely a lot better than my old bushnell.
Pros:
- Quality scope at a good price.

I can definitely tell the difference in the hd. We are shooting night and low light and I was able to make out shoots I couldn’t with the other. I can see the cape trails better also with this optic. For the money at the time of sale it was a great purchase couples with the warranty of the product. So far so good. I

I purchased this Vortex Viper spotting scope as a Christmas present for my wife during Cyber Week. The scope was on sale at a nearly 50% discount and was an exceptional value and made me feel a little better about adding the Vortex Pro GT Pro 2 tripod to the order. The focus knobs are are a great and worthwhile feature and the images we are getting of geese sitting on the ice in front of our home are incredible. The clarity and magnification of the scope is remarkable and we have also tried it once as a telescope with some success. A little tough to find objects when using as a telescope but the angled eyepiece is a great feature for night sky and normal viewing. The lens covers and protective cover are nice accessories and the scope does well with the Vortex tripod.

I have the angled version on this scope. This scope appears well-built and is optically decent at 20X, but becomes increasingly soft to the point where it is unusable at much above 30X. Forget about focusing on anything above 40X. At the higher powers the scope suffers from such bad purple and green fringing (a type of chromatic aberration) that it is laughably bad. Vortex knows about this and will leave you high and dry with a $900 paper weight. I sent the first one back and had it replaced with one equally as bad.

I have been very impressed with this spotting scope. I got the 20-60x80 Vortex Viper HD Angled Spotting Scope. I have been looking at things from various distances and have been amazed at the clarity. I found a radio tower that I ranged at 245 yards. I could focus clearly at the brackets on the top of this tower and count the bolts. This was at full 60 power. I have seen reviews that people couldn't do something like this at full magnification. This is a very nice spotting scope. I am very happy with the purchase and service from Opticsplanet. I just ordered a Vortex Sparc to put on the spotter, Vortex has a video on their website about this idea. I got the angled scope, it is not hard to find things, but the red dot will make it even easier and more fun. I got a Pro GT tripod for this scope. It works perfect for this scope, it is not really heavy like some of the reviews say it is. There seem to be a lot of complainers on review sites. Vortex makes some nice stuff. The Vortex Viper line is a really great medium dollar range line of equipment.

Just receive scope. Just as advertised. Well made. Easy to use. I would invest in good tri-pod. Two focus positions a nice feature. Cover for scope was nice add. Fits well and cut-outs spaced well to provide good access to scope focus and attachment to tri-pod.

I was recently looking at getting a decent spotting scope mostly for shooting steel and possibly some hunting. I was looking at the Viper HD and the Diamond back so I went to my local Sportsmans Warehouse and the salesman took them both outside and let me do a side by side comparison. The HD had a fine adjustment and was a more crisp clear image. So far I have been very pleased with the spotting scope for the price. It's a bit heavy to want to pack around but perfect for target shooting. Only complaint is the objective seems to be a little sloppy when adjusting the zoom but other than that it's a fine quality piece of glass.

Eye relief= ok (no better than others with 18mm eye relief.)
Image quality= Was compared to a Barska Blackhawk $100.00 spotting scope 20x60x60.. At 60x focusing on an brick building just under 1 mile away, the Barska had more definition.
Image brightness= Better than the Barska but kinda washed out.
I may have got a defective one because it seemed hard to focus in the middle of the image and clear around the edges??? Discounted cost to return with $750.00 ins. $12.00 This was by using my Employers UPS account and they do high volume so it is about 1/2 price.
Pros: None
Cons: Not as expected
