Florian Kern: actor, presenter and PostBus project manager
“I want to experience as much as possible” – Florian Kern’s personal motto. He is the project manager for PubliCar’s market launch, as well as an actor, presenter and father, so he seems to be living up to it.

Florian Kern, 51, is the project manager for PubliCar’s market launch in Eastern Switzerland. PubliCar allows regions where scheduled routes aren’t profitable to still be served by public transport. “With PubliCar, it’s possible to do something good for people living in more rural areas,” says Florian. Customers can order a vehicle quickly using the PubliCar App and choose their pick-up and destination points. The key feature is that when another person books the same or a similar route, they will also board along the way. “This is known as pooling, which means it’s more economical than travelling alone,” explains Florian. This is how PubliCar efficiently combines private and public transport for a fair price: alongside the public transport ticket or subscription, the journey only costs an extra five francs.

Florian’s daily life is just as varied as PubliCar. “As a father, I experience something funny, amazing or hair-raising every day.” He earns his pocket money working as an events presenter, speaker and actor. Florian has thick skin: whilst working as a presenter, he was once asked if he even understands anything that he’s asking. It’s a good thing, then, that Florian knows how to take everything with a sense of humour and describes himself as “brilliant, yet at the same time completely inept”. In response to the question of where he sees himself in five years, he answers: “As ever, with both feet on the ground and aiming to be generous, magnanimous and in good health.”
