Red Hat Academy Day: Accelerating skills and innovation across Indonesia

The need for skilled tech talent to support this market continues to grow and is expected to become even more critical in the coming years as technology is increasingly embedded into our lives. To address this need, Red Hat is on a mission to collaborate with academic institutions globally, empowering the next generation of IT talent with access to Red Hat’s advanced training courses and certifications.

With 1,400 Red Hat Academy locations that span 22 countries in the APAC region, Red Hat is committed to expanding into underrepresented areas to ensure more students gain access to industry-relevant skills—helping close the tech talent gap. By fostering collaboration between academic institutions and the technology industry, Red Hat strives to shape a skilled and innovative workforce that is ready for the future.

Committed to tech in Indonesia

In Indonesia, Red Hat Academy has made a significant impact on the tech industry. In 2024 alone, Red Hat Academy trained more than 200 institutions and over 8,000 students nationwide. By focusing on practical skills derived from real-world enterprise use cases, Red Hat Academy equips students with the expertise and confidence needed to thrive in today’s competitive job market. The program’s emphasis on open source technologies bridges the gap between theory and application and creates opportunities for student innovation.

Red Hat Academy Day Indonesia 2024 was a testament to Red Hat’s commitment, celebrating the incredible achievements of 1,200 students across 20 institutions nationwide. The event offered interactive sessions that balanced knowledge sharing with hands-on learning, honing students’ technical and problem-solving skills while fostering innovation and career readiness. Students received instruction in platforms, middleware, cloud, DevOps and cybersecurity technologies—all developed with input from Red Hat’s development, support and consulting teams.

Red Hat Academy Instructor Day

The Red Hat Academy Instructor Day was a vibrant celebration of all the instructors and their remarkable achievements who play a key role in shaping the future of tech talent. With 200+ universities, 8,500+ students trained, 85+ certifications, 15 student ambassadors and 3 students hired, this event showcased the real-world impact of educators committed to the Red Hat Academy program. Honoring the dedication of the top 20 instructors from over 200 institutions, this event recognized those who have integrated Red Hat’s resources into their curricula and trained at least 100 students. A standout moment was recognizing Politeknik Negeri Padang’s training of over 300 students, one of whom was hired through the Red Hat Talent Network.

The Red Hat Academy Indonesia Challenge 2024

The Red Hat Academy Indonesia Challenge 2024 captured the attention of many students across Indonesia. Organized in collaboration with Metrodata Academy, this highly anticipated online competition gave students the chance to showcase their expertise in Red Hat technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat OpenShift. Participants engaged in a multiple choice quiz, competing for exciting prizes, such as tablets, smartwatches and exclusive Red Hat merchandise. With a prize pool of IDR 15,000,000, the top 10 winners achieved a significant milestone in this exciting challenge.
