About the project
The Challenge
The school did not have enough classrooms, in addition, there were not enough desks for the pupils to use. They were unable to learn effectively given that their classes were congested with no room to sit.
The school had poor sanitation with an inadequate number of toilets for the 401 pupils. This had caused health problems for the pupils in the form of waterborne diseases.
The Intervention
Safaricom Foundation renovated two classrooms and furnished then with 25 desks each and also four pit latrines, 2 each for boys and girls. This was done at KES 1.5 Million.
The Impact
The pupils are able to learn in a conducive learning environment with a classroom and learning facilities in place. The classrooms and desks have been a motivating factor which will have a positive impact on their academic performance.
There is an improvement in the school’s sanitation reducing health risks and making the school fit for a learning institution.
