About the project

The Challenge

Nyakome Special School is located in Kisii County. The school caters for learners with special needs. The school lacked ample classrooms to enable proper learning.

The Intervention

Through the Safaricom Foundation who provided a grant of Ksh 3.8 million, the school was able to construct four new classrooms to add to the existing ones. This was to help ease congestion and facilitate easy learning in the school.

The Impact

The project has helped the institution as the pupils are now able to learn properly and the teachers can now easily teach. This has led to an increase in the number of pupils in the school with the enrolment of pupils increasing from 13 learners in 2014 to 86 in 2018.
