About the project
The Challenge
Like in many emerging nations, persons living with disabilities in Kenya do not have equal opportunities with the rest of the population. The pupils and students of this school are no exception. Fortunately, schools such as this offer them a chance at education, expanding their future possibilities.
The Intervention
Safaricom Foundation funded the installation of ICT software and furniture at Ksh3.47 million. The local community was able to raise Ksh300, 000.
The Impact
This project will open up opportunities for the 122 pupils in the primary school section and 72 students in the secondary school section who are interested in exploring the diverse field of ICT in future.
Education is one of the key strategic directions that the Safaricom Foundation supports. The Foundation also promotes Private-Public Partnerships to promote the needs of persons with disabilities. This project aims to realise the fourth Sustainable Development Goal which works towards ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
